The Yang style is the second style of Taijiquan directly derived from the Chen style. The Yang is the most practiced style in the world with higher stances than Chen, simpler movements, slower and of a more regular rhythm. We usually start with the 8 form, then 10, 16, 24, 88, 42 combined competition form and the long traditional form 108.
The Sun style derives mainly from the Xing Yi Quan. The arm movements are shorter than Yang and closer with higher stances and forward and backward swinging. It is an easier style than Yang and more suitable for those with weak knees.
You have enough experience in Yang style Taijiquan and you are able to do at least one form of 16 or 24 movements by heart? Than, start learning a sword form. You will learn each movement into details and step by step, one form after the other starting with the sword 16 step.
