Understand the difference between these both ancient traditional chinese arts
HEALTH QIGONG (CHI KUNG) consists of 4.000-year-old stand-up exercises put together as forms. QIGONG is the root of Taijiquan based on muscles & tendons stretching into all directions focusing on the Chinese acupuncture meridians that help organ functions and general health through the Qi flow, the vital energy.
The International Health Qigong Federation, IHQFO.org, looks at traditional QIGONG forms practiced in different ways across the globe, and creates HEALTH QIGONG standardized forms that guarantee you the maximum health benefit for each of them.
TAIJI (TAI CHI/TAIJIQUAN) is a 400-year-old slow motion Martial Art recognized by the UNESCO as Intangible Chinese Cultural Heritage of Humanity. TAIJI walking exercises improve your general health and help your mind to focus. Learning the technique into detail allows you to relax your body and let the QI flow correctly and continuously.
Memorizing the forms, practicing smoothly and in harmony, TAIJI becomes a meditation in movement full of great sensations, the aim of all TAIJI practitioners. TAIJI is more challenging than Health Qigong as needs better coordination and more focus to the details. TAIJI can also be used with sword, saber, fan & wood.
HEALTH QIGONG and TAIJI relax the mind and improve neck & back stiffness, knees, memory, breathing, sleep, balance, mind focus, strength, happiness… prevent & slow down all kind of diseases. Both are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
The Yang style is the second style of Taijiquan directly derived from the Chen style. The Yang is the most practiced style in the world with higher stances than Chen, simpler movements, slower and of a more regular rhythm. We usually start with the 8 form, then 10, 16, 24, 88, 42 combined competition form and the long traditional form 108.
The Sun style derives mainly from the Xing Yi Quan. The arm movements are shorter than Yang and closer with higher stances and forward and backward swinging. It is an easier style than Yang and more suitable for those with weak knees.
The Health Qigong forms are based on movements that are not done in our everyday life and are excellent for health. These movements work mainly on stretching the meridians to improve each of the organs, but also our muscles, tendons, general health and well-being.
A Soft Qigong class is a morning class where the choice of the Qigong moves or forms are slightly easier to do and remember than others.
For those who can't stand up for long or just prefer to do a Tai Chi or Qigong class seated on a chair or stool.
A Great choice for those being in rehabilitation, having chronic health issues like Fibromyalgia, Poliartritis Rheumatoid etc...
You have enough experience in Yang style Taijiquan and you are able to do at least one form of 16 or 24 movements by heart? Than, start learning a sword form. You will learn each movement into details and step by step, one form after the other starting with the sword 16 step.
You want a Tailor Made class to learn at your own rhythm? Learn Tai Chi or Qigong in your own language? Improve your level quicker? Get to a competition level faster?
